Join The Movement
Too uncomfortable, too unprofessional, too loud, too quiet, too much, too little.
Being a woman in corporate America is challenging on multiple fronts but our shoe choice shouldn't make it harder. It shouldn't, but it does. We have to ensure we're always put together and bringing our A-game, not only from an execution perspective but from a style one. People notice.
One of my biggest frustrations is the lack of comfortable, good-for-your-feet, shoe options on the market. When we're focused on optimizing in our career, it doesn't often end there. We're focused on optimizing in our lives...so why would do I need to sacrifice health and mobility?
Barefoot Principles
I'm part of a powerful movement online - one centered on natural foot function and mobility. It's called "Barefoot" and it's primary focus is crafting shoes that work with our feet, not against them. This manifests in a wider toebox so our feet can splay naturally, a reduced drop and minimized cushioning (which, surprise, is actually causing more foot discomfort in the long run.)
Here's the problem with barefoot shoes. Most of them are...ugly. They absolutely standout in the workplace in all the worst ways. This brought me to an interesting challenge. I found myself sacrificing comfort and foot health for aesthetic and wondering "how do we eliminate this compromise?"

IRELIS WAS BORN.
I saw the problem, and set out for the solution. I founded Irelis- a shoe brand focused on merging style and barefoot principles so that we could bring our health and style to the office, the brunch, the airport and beyond.
Our first shoe is launching this year, a smoking slipper that embodies versatility, comfort and style. You're an early adopter - welcome to the movement.
Share your e-mail below and I'll keep you updated as we move towards pre-launch. A core belief of Irelis is transparency - we will be communicating throughout the journey with the most up-to-date info we have.
Thanks for helping us redefine the standard!
